A customer dining at a well-known Vietnamese stall in Ang Mo Kio witnessed a rat running along one of the shelves on the premises.
The diner immediately notified the staff about the sighting but reportedly did not receive any follow-up action.
The customer has since confirmed reporting the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
The incident, which occurred on Friday (19 May) at approximately 8.45pm, was recorded and shared on TikTok by the eyewitness.
The stall in question, Bánh Mì Saigon, located along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, is known for selling Vietnamese snacks and condiments.
While dining at the stall, the customer heard a noise coming from the plastic packaging on the nearby shelves.
To their shock, they witnessed a “medium-sized” rat rummaging through packets of instant noodles, with one packet already torn and bitten open.
In the video footage, the rat can be seen chewing on top of one of the packets after enhancing the brightness.
The eyewitness informed the staff about the sighting, and they assured that they would look into the matter.
However, according to the eyewitness, the staff failed to take any action. After waiting for 15 minutes, the customer decided to leave Bánh Mì Saigon and proceeded to report the incident to the SFA.

They stated that upon discovering the presence of the rat, the staff immediately notified the management, who subsequently arranged for pest control to conduct an inspection.
The stall clarified that the shop and food preparation area have not been affected.
“In addition to our own thorough cleaning of all our equipment and premises on the day itself, we have also engaged cleaning and sanitising services,” they further added in their statement.
