On friday (29 July 2016), two men who are part of a group of five men accused of sexually assaulting a drunk 18 years old girl in a hotel room, were sentenced to jail terms and caning after they admitted to their roles in the 2014 gang rape.
Muhammad Fadly Abdull Wahab 20 years old who had repeatedly persuaded the victim to attend a party at the hotel, bought an extra bottle of vodka to get her drunk and then plied her with alcohol, was sentenced to 13 years of jail and eight strokes of the cane.
Muhammad Hazly Mohamad Halimi 23 years old took photo of the girl, he then sent the photo to another friend to brag about the fun he was having was sentenced to 11 years of jail and six strokes of the cane.
Both the men Fadly and Hazly took turns to spend about 20 minutes inside the bathroom with the victim.
The other three men Ridhaudin Ridhwan Bakri 22 years old, Muhammad Faris Ramlee 22 years old and Asep Ardiansyah 22 years old are claiming trial to their respective charges. A three-week trial is scheduled to start next week.
