A bar in Prinsep Street, SMÖÖbar, previously called out a group of diners who dined and dashed at their outlet last week, leaving without paying their bill of $275.
Following that, another bistro in Bras Basah, Jyu Gae Bistro, also called out 2 of the diners for dining and dashing at their outlet as well, lying to their staff members that they were going out for a smoke and never returning to settle their bill of $290.
However, it seems SMOObar and Jyu Gae Bistro are not the only eateries that the two freeloaders had dined and dashed at, with 3 other eateries also falling victim to the two men’s freeloading.
The two men have since been arrested by the police for dining without paying, and The Straits Times reported that they did the same with a number of other eateries as well, owing a total of more than $2,000 to 5 eateries.
The Singapore Police Force said in a press release on 19 April that they had received 5 reports against the two men, a 20-year-old and a 23-year-old, for dining at the eateries and fleeing without paying.
The police reports against them were lodged from 5 April to 13 April, and the two freeloaders were arrested on Tuesday (18 April).
The police added that the two men’s modus operandi was to dine together with other people and order large amounts of food and drinks.
And when it was time to pay the bill, they would either tell the staff members that they would pay later or use a card that would be declined.
The police didn’t mention the names of the other 3 eateries that fell victim to the dining and dashing, apart from SMOObar and Jyu Gae Bistro.
At the time of writing, police investigations are ongoing.
