According to a report by Givemesport.com, Argentine and Paris Saint Germain footballer, Lionel Messi who was recently crowned World Champions after Argentina beat France in a thrilling World Cup final has been offered $1 Million for the traditional cloak that he was dressed by the Emir of Qatar while lifting the World Cup trophy.
The traditional cloak is known as a bisht, and it is usually worn in Middle Eastern culture whenever there are celebratory events.
Interested buyer is a lawyer and MP in Oman
The buyer who made this offer to Messi is none other than Ahmed Al Barwani, who is also a lawyer and member of parliament (MP) of the country of Oman.
In a post on his Twitter platform, the MP congratulated Messi for winning the 2022 World Cup which was held in Qatar and ended his congratulatory post by offering Messi $1 Million for it.
Explained the reasons for his offer to Messi
In a separate interview with a UAE media page, The National, the MP said that the bisht which was donned by Messi would not be donned again.
Instead, it would be displayed as it is a proud moment for the Middle Eastern region.
The MP was also at the venue of the 2022 World Cup Final to watch the game and he added that the moment where Messi was dressed in the bisht announced to the world about the Middle East and their cultures.
Getting the bisht would serve as a reminder that the Middle East can do anything.
