The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Singapore, has released a statement expressing concern about the situation in Ukraine at the moment.
This is after Russia had announced the start of a ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine as well as launched several air strikes and land attacks on different targets in Ukraine.
In the statement by MFA, it said that:
“Singapore strongly condemns any unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country under any pretext”
It also called for respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial boundaries and the country’s independence.
The statement by the MFA also hoped that military movements in the country will come to a halt and they also urged for the countries involved to settle the dispute peacefully according to the UN Charter and International Law.
‘Special Military Operation’ ordered by Putin
President of Russia, Vladimir Putin had previously said on a televised declaration that a ‘special military operation’ in which he ordered in Ukraine will take place and this led to Russian forces firing missiles at various targets in Ukraine and troops landing in Ukraine’s southern coast.
