A tragic incident has occurred in Spain involving a Singaporean woman, Audrey Fang, who went missing while on holiday in Xàbia, Valencia. According to Spanish media outlet Olive Press, Fang’s body was found on April 10, but was not identified until April 17. The body was discovered in a lorry park at Abanilla in the Murcia region, some 150km away from where she was last seen alive.
Fang, 39, was allegedly stabbed over 30 times, and her personal belongings were found in her hotel room, indicating that she was making her way to breakfast at a restaurant before her death. She had been staying at a luxury hotel in Xàbia, with accommodation reservations from April 4 to 10.
The suspect is a Singaporean man who is currently in Spanish police custody. He was detained by the Guardia Civil in Alicante province on April 17 and transferred to Murcia. Fang had reportedly told some acquaintances that she was going to meet a person she knew in Spain, but they were not aware of who it was. Her family last spoke to her on April 10, Singapore time, and she was last spotted walking out of the hotel at around 8:45 pm that Tuesday with her personal belongings still in her room.
Fang’s family filed a police report and contacted Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs when she failed to board her flight back to Singapore from Barcelona and did not arrive as scheduled on April 12. The body was reportedly found the following day, but not identified until April 17.
