In a truly remarkable display of courage, an 11-year-old girl in Henan, China, saved her younger sister from serious injury after a mobility scooter crashed into a restaurant. The incident, which has quickly gone viral on social media, highlights the importance of quick reflexes and protective instincts.
At approximately 2 PM on Monday (2 June), a 60-year-old customer who had recently purchased a mobility scooter accidentally accelerated into the restaurant’s glass door. The device, seemingly unfamiliar to the customer, careened forward with considerable speed.
Realizing the imminent danger to her one-year-old sister, Li Xinrui, immediately dropped the bottled drink in her hand. Demonstrating incredible speed, she rushed forward to shield her sister from the oncoming scooter. The rescue is a powerful testament to familial love and instinct.
Xinrui was able to pull her sister to safety before the vehicle slammed into a wall, bringing the incident to a halt. This dramatic rescue underscores the potential consequences of unfamiliarity with new devices.

As reported by NetEase News, Xinrui stated, “I just thought that I must not let anything happen to my sister no matter what. I could recover if I was injured and hospitalised, but she was only one year old and could not bear it at all!” – a poignant reflection on the immense responsibility of protecting a vulnerable sibling.
Meanwhile, the girls’ grandfather — the restaurant owner — felt terrified after witnessing the surveillance footage of the crash. “It was just one or two seconds. If it weren’t for my granddaughter, the consequences would be disastrous,” he expressed, emphasizing the potential severity of the situation.
The customer— the family’s acquaintance— immediately apologized to the family and pledged to take full responsibility. A key factor in the rapid response was the immediate acknowledgement of the accident and the commitment to rectify the situation.
However, acknowledging the event was an accident and did not cause severe consequences, the girls’ grandfather only asked him to repair the damaged door.
