The VIFAP will be open for applications from 17 March 2021 onwards, and it will provide financial assistance to Singaporeans, PRs and Long Term Pass holders; should they experience any serious side effects related to their vaccination.

Three tiers

  • Tier 1 is a one time payout of $2,000 for people who required inpatient hospitalization and medical intervention, and subsequently recovers.
  • Tier 2 is a one time payout of $10,000 for people who are admitted into High Dependency Wards or ICU, and subsequently recovers.
  • Tier 3 is aone time payout of $250,000 for people who died or suffered from permanent disability.

MOH defines a “serious side effect” as one that is potentially life threatening or fatal and requires the individual to be hospitalised, or causes disability, or recurring incapacity.

VIFAP is not intended to reimburse medical costs, it serves to strengthen the support provided for people who suffer from serious side effects of the vaccine.

Applications will be reviewed by an independent clinical panel to asses the severity of the side effects and/or whether it is related to the vaccination.
