MOM – LOOK OUT FOR SCAM CALLS FROM PEOPLE IMPERSONATING MOM OFFICERS

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) posted on their Facebook page warning the public to look out for scam calls from people impersonating MOM officers.

Look out for scam calls from people impersonating Ministry of Manpower officers.

Recently, a migrant domestic worker received a scam video call. The person in the call seemed to be wearing an MOM lanyard, and asked for her work permit card.

If you receive such calls, ignore them, and do not provide the caller with any information.

If you have been affected by these calls, please lodge a police report immediately. Here are tips on how to identify and report fake “MOM” websites, phone calls and emails:

How to report fake “MOM” websites, phone scams or email scams

Call the anti-scam helpline at 1800 722 6688 if you notice:

  • Any websites that you suspect to be fake versions of the official MOM website.
  • Any calls or emails that you suspect to be scams.

How to identify fake “MOM” websites or phishing eServices

The official MOM website is at https://www.mom.gov.sg. This is where we make available MOM-related information and eServices that enable you to perform your transactions with us safely and securely.

How to identify phone scams or email scams

Scams surface from time to time. These could be in the form of unexpected phone calls or emails claiming to be from MOM.

You may even see the caller ID showing MOM’s hotline: 6438 5122.

They may also ask for money or sensitive personal information.

MOM Assurance, Care and Engagement (ACE) Group conducts voice and video calls with foreign workers to ensure that they’re at home and comply with SHN requirements. We also conduct inspections at your premises and investigations to ensure that the well-being of foreign workers is not compromised.

We may contact you on matters such as your worker’s COVID-19 vaccination and matters relating to inspections and investigations.

We will not ask for your financial information over the phone.

You can verify whether the call is not a scam before you provide any personal information.
