They further explained that supervisees refers to inmates who are near the end of their sentence and hold jobs in the community in sectors like logistics, cleaning and F&B.

All infected persons are at different stages of recovery, and none are hospitalised currently.

Only three supervisees who are symptomatic are in hospital but their conditions are currently stable.

116 of the 169 inmates including inmates who are sentenced to death have tested positive between Nov 6 and Nov 10 are housed in institution A1 at Changi Prison Complex.

The remaining 53 are inmates who recently just entered prison and contracted the virus outside or those who reported sick with symptoms while inside the prison.

No visitation allowed face to face

Face to Face visitation has been temporarily suspended and have been replaced by phone calls so as to minimise movement in the prison and lower the transmission risk.

Death row inmates are however still granted the face to face visits due to their circumstances.

Measures to protect the elderly and medically vulnerable inmates have also been put in place, such as housing them with fully vaccinated inmates and making them undergo routine rostered testing.

SPS has said that they are committed to ensure that their inmates remain in safe and secure custody.
