The victim, identified as six-year-old Sheyna Lashira, was involved in the accident together with her mother, 31-year-old Raisha Anindra. The pair were reportedly struck by a car while crossing South Bridge Road after the vehicle exited a nearby car park. Both were rushed to hospital following the collision.

Despite medical intervention, Sheyna later succumbed to her injuries. Her body has since been claimed by relatives and repatriated to Jakarta for funeral arrangements. Raisha, however, remains hospitalised in Singapore and continues to receive treatment under close medical supervision.

MOTHER STILL HOSPITALISED IN SINGAPORE

Indonesian media reports cited police sources as saying that Raisha is currently being treated at Singapore General Hospital. While her condition has been described as stable, doctors have yet to clear her for travel back to Indonesia.

The family had been visiting Singapore on holiday at the time of the incident. Indonesian police confirmed that embassy officials had earlier visited the family at the hospital to provide assistance, including coordination with local authorities and support during the difficult period.

The Indonesian embassy is understood to be working closely with both Singapore officials and the family to facilitate medical care, administrative matters and eventual repatriation once Raisha is fit to travel. Such cases often involve cross-border coordination, including medical documentation and insurance arrangements.

DRIVER DETAINED AS INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE

Meanwhile, Indonesian police confirmed that the driver involved in the accident is a Singaporean woman. Singapore authorities later stated that the 38-year-old driver has been detained and is assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Singapore Police Force subsequently confirmed that the driver was arrested for causing death while driving. Investigations into the circumstances of the crash, including vehicle movement, road conditions and potential liability, are still underway.

Eyewitness accounts reported that a dark-coloured electric vehicle was exiting the car park and making a right turn when it struck the mother and daughter. At the time, the girl’s father was said to be walking slightly ahead, pushing a stroller carrying their two-year-old child.

FAMILY DESCRIBES CHILD AS “LIKE AN ANGEL”

Sheyna’s aunt, who is also Raisha’s older sister, described the child as gentle, cheerful and full of life. Speaking to Indonesian media, she said the girl had been attending kindergarten in Jakarta and was loved by those around her.

“She was kind and very cheerful, always making people happy,” she said, adding that the family is now focused on praying for Raisha’s recovery so she can return home and reunite with her loved ones.

The tragic incident has renewed conversations in Singapore about road safety, pedestrian protection, and legal accountability in serious traffic accidents. As investigations proceed, the case remains a sobering reminder of how quickly lives can be changed, especially for families travelling abroad.
