In a terrifying incident near Changi Airport, a motorcyclist found themselves in a harrowing situation following a collision with a taxi on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE).
The motorcyclist rear-ended the taxi, and the motorcycle then shattered into pieces, with the debris strewn all over the road and the motorcyclist reportedly being flung from the bike and landing on the barricade near the side of the road.
The entire incident was captured by a dashboard camera of a passing vehicle. The video footage, subsequently uploaded to the SG Road Vigilante group on Facebook, revealed the shocking moments leading to the collision.
The Accident
At approximately 2:19 pm on October 24, a blue Comfort taxi was navigating along the PIE. The taxi, presumably in the process of changing lanes, was seen moving between the center and left lanes.
Concurrently, a motorcyclist, dressed in white, was riding along the left side of the road, slightly ahead of the taxi.
As the taxi merged into the left lane, a shattering collision occurred between the taxi and the motorcycle. The impact was so severe that the taxi swerved back into the center lane before coming to a halt on the road shoulder ahead.
The motorcycle shattered into pieces with debris from the collision littered the roadway, and the motorcyclist was ejected from their seat, landing near a road barricade.
At this point, the severity of the motorcyclist’s injuries remained undetermined.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received an alert about the accident at around 2:20 pm on October 24.
They promptly responded, dispatching assistance to the scene. An injured individual was transported to Changi General Hospital for the necessary medical attention.
