Motorcyclist, 25, and Female Pillion, 21, Killed After Motorcycle Reportedly Self-Skids Along Yio Chu Kang Road

A 25-year-old motorcyclist and his 21-year-old female pillion rider died in the early hours of June 25 after their motorcycle reportedly self-skidded along Yio Chu Kang Road.

The fatal accident occurred before dawn, with police and emergency responders arriving at the scene shortly afterwards. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Police Tents Seen at Accident Scene

Images and videos circulating on social media showed two police tents erected on the left lane of Yio Chu Kang Road, which had been cordoned off with traffic cones.

The footage, believed to have been taken from a passing bus, also showed a Traffic Police motorcycle parked behind the tents, along with several police vehicles and officers at the scene.

The incident caused part of the road to be closed while investigations were carried out.

Both Victims Pronounced Dead at the Scene

In response to media queries, the Singapore Police Force said it was alerted to the accident at about 3.35am on June 25.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcycle was travelling along Yio Chu Kang Road towards Upper Thomson Road when it is believed to have self-skidded.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call regarding the road traffic accident at about 3.30am.

A 25-year-old male motorcyclist and his 21-year-old female pillion rider were pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

Investigations Ongoing

Police have not released further details on what may have caused the motorcycle to lose control.
