MOTORCYCLIST BEATS RED LIGHT BECAUSE RUSHING TO THE NETHERWORLD

A video emerged online showing a motorcyclist beating a red light at a traffic junction along Upper Changi Road North.

The incident happened on 15 May at about 1.40pm, and was captured on the dashcam of a vehicle that was behind the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was seen in the video initially waiting at the red light, before he then made the decision to beat the red light.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
