The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed it was alerted to the accident at around 2:20pm. The man, who was conscious at the scene, was conveyed to hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the SMRT bus was being driven by a 54-year-old woman, who is now assisting with investigations. Police inquiries into the incident are still ongoing.

Bus Windscreen Shattered in Impact

Photos circulating on Facebook show the extent of the damage to the bus, which suffered a shattered windscreen and a heavily dented front bumper. The motorcycle was left lying on its side directly in front of the bus, surrounded by broken parts and debris.

The images suggest the impact was significant, with the front of the bus absorbing much of the collision. Fortunately, no passengers onboard the bus were reported injured.

SMRT has yet to issue a public statement on the incident, though such cases typically involve a review of safety procedures and cooperation with the authorities.

Road Safety Remains a Concern in Busy Neighbourhoods

Bukit Panjang is a densely populated estate with heavy traffic, particularly at road junctions near bus interchanges and MRT stations. Accidents involving motorcycles and buses are of particular concern, as motorcyclists are far more vulnerable to serious injury compared to larger vehicles.

Authorities continue to urge both motorcyclists and bus drivers to exercise caution, especially when navigating busy junctions. Defensive driving, adherence to traffic rules, and heightened awareness remain crucial in preventing such accidents.

For Singapore residents, this case is yet another reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly in high-traffic residential areas where buses, motorcycles, and pedestrians often share the same space. Police investigations are ongoing, and updates will follow once more details are released.
