A serious accident took place along the Tampines Expressway (TPE) on Thursday (9 March), showing a motorcyclist hitting a BMW that had suddenly changed lanes without warning.
A video of the accident was circulated on social media, with the time of the accident purportedly being 8.44am, according to the caption.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed the accident and said that they conveyed one person to H=Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
In the video, a black BMW was seen switching lanes onto its left when the motorcycle appeared just as the BMW was turning.
As a result, the BMW and motorcycle crashed into each other, causing the motorcycling to be thrown off his bike and skidding onto the road.
The impact was so great that the rider’s helmet was knocked off, and he was sent flying off his motorcycle and his body was spinning in mid air.
SG Road Vigilante, who posted the video, captioned that the accident was caused by the BMW “changing lane without due care”.
Netizens’ comments
- Nowadays there are plenty of this kind of drivers. Once they signal they will change lane without checking if there is any oncoming vehicle.
- So many this kind cb driver on the road , raining day also like to follow close each other..
- Hope the rider is alright. Seeing his white helmet flew off on impact.
- I think people miss the point about signalling. Its just your intention. The point about changing lanes is to change when it’s safe to do so. Tsk!
