A video emerged online showing a motorcyclist trying to tailgate a car out of a multi-storey carpark with a pillion rider behind him, earlier today (2 February).
However, the motorcyclist then stopped just after the carpark gantry and right behind the camcar, to void colliding with the car that he tailgated out of.
The carpark’s gantry barrier then came down and struck his pillion rider on the head, as she then got off the motorcycle as the gantry tried to “separate” her from the bike.
Talk about instant karma, eh?
Potential penalties
From July 2019 onwards, motorists who tailgate others out of carparks at the Electronic Pricing System exit gantry to avoid payment, face an increased amount of fines.
Tailgating cars face a fine of $70, while heavy vehicles and motorcycles face a fine of $100 and $35 respectively.
