MP MELVIN YONG STATES THAT LAW SHOULD PROTECT S’POREANS FROM OVERWORKING

MP Melvin Yong recently spoke about proposals to protect employees from working after work hours. This would include answering calls and emails.

Mr Yong stated that his is an issue and shared that Singapore should consider proposing a law which involves letting employees negotiate with their employers on answering work calls & emails outside of office hours.

Such a low would help Singaporeans have a work life balance and to reduce employee fatigue and burnout. He also shared that other countries such as Italy and Philippines have implemented similar laws.
