Here is what they said

[UPDATE: Thomson-East Coast Line, 27 Apr, at 6.45pm]:

This morning at about 6.30am, a train fault occurred between Woodlands and Woodlands South MRT stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

Our engineers were immediately activated and a rescue train was deployed to move the stalled train to the nearest MRT station to disembark the commuters. The rescue train subsequently also experienced a fault during electric coupling and stalled. Two other rescue trains were then deployed, adopting a different recovery process and eventually recovered the initial stalled train, where around 50 commuters were safely disembarked at Woodlands station at about 8.10am.

Our staff was in constant contact with the affected commuters to assure them and check on their well-being. There was full lighting and ventilation in the stalled train while the commuters were on-board.

Train services were available on TEL, with shuttle train service on one track operating between Woodlands North and Lentor MRT stations as well as loop train service between Lentor and Caldecott MRT stations. Free regular bus and bridging bus services were also made available between Woodlands North and Caldecott MRT stations.

In-train and station announcements were made to inform commuters of up to 25 minutes’ additional train travel time. More staff were deployed to assist commuters at all affected stations. Normal service resumed at about 9.10am.

We are sorry for affecting your morning commute.
