A 50-year-old Malaysian housewife has beaten extraordinary odds by winning a lottery jackpot for the second time, taking home RM12.95 million (approximately S$3.9 million) just three years after previously winning RM1.4 million.
The woman from Perak said the life-changing prize came after years of hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic, when both she and her husband lost their jobs.
Couple Kept Buying Lucky Pick Tickets Despite Financial Struggles
The winner shared that she and her husband continued buying Sports Toto’s computer-generated Lucky Pick tickets over the past three years, hoping their fortunes would eventually change.
She revealed that the pandemic took a heavy emotional toll on her. Besides financial difficulties, she also suffered from depression and experienced partial memory loss.
Throughout the difficult period, her husband remained by her side, often taking her back to places they had visited during their younger days in an effort to help her recover her memories.
During one such trip to Lumut, the couple stopped in Sitiawan for a meal and decided to purchase a Lucky Pick ticket from a nearby Sports Toto outlet.
That ticket would later turn them into multi-millionaires.
Second Jackpot Win Leaves Couple In Disbelief
The woman said she was left speechless when her husband checked the lottery results and realised their numbers had matched the winning combination.
The couple reportedly checked the ticket several times because they simply could not believe they had won another jackpot.
She said winning once already felt almost impossible, but winning twice was beyond anything they had imagined.
According to Sports Toto, she won the jackpot by matching the numbers 5900 and 6900, taking home a prize of RM12,946,225.55.
First Won RM1.4 Million Three Years Ago
Remarkably, this was not the first time luck had smiled on the family.
Three years earlier, the same woman also won the Sports Toto 4D Jackpot First Prize using another computer-generated Lucky Pick ticket, receiving approximately RM1.4 million.
Her latest jackpot is nearly ten times larger than her previous windfall.
Plans To Retire And Give Back
Despite becoming an overnight millionaire once again, the winner said she has no plans to splurge.
Instead, she intends to use the money as retirement savings while donating part of her winnings to charities and people in need.
Having experienced some of the most difficult years of her life, she said she understands the importance of receiving help during challenging times and hopes her good fortune can benefit others.
