The Malaysian Police released a statement on 4 April, saying that they are investigating the incident of a Singapore-registered car driving dangerously in Felda Gugusan Adela, Johor.
A video clip of the now-viral incident was shared on the Facebook page, Pen Hitam, showing the gold BMW speeding recklessly and weaving in and out of traffic.
The BMW was seen braking abruptly at a traffic light, and as soon as the lights turned green, started accelerating and overtaking a white vehicle in front without signaling.
The BMW then weaved around the blue car in front before speeding forward down the road, once again without signaling as well.
The Kota Tinggi police are investigating the gold BMW driver, under Section 42(1) of Malaysia’s Road Transport Act 1987.
They also urged the public to practise safe driving and refrain from driving dangerously as it could injure the other motorists.
Netizens online were understandably enraged by the driver’s action, calling for the Malaysian police to take action against the driver.
One of them also commented against Singaporeans, saying this is expected, and that once the borders reopen, “they’ll” come and drive like it’s their grandfather’s road.
