A man who recently gained online attention for performing silat moves during a confrontation at a toll plaza is currently being sought by authorities.

Penang police have issued a public alert identifying 32-year-old Mohd Shakirin bin Rejab as a person of interest. He is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code, which relate to voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

Known by several aliases, including Kirin, Bain, Baim, and Bien, Shakirin was one of two individuals involved in a tense altercation at the Batu Kawan toll plaza on May 30. Footage from the incident shows him dressed in a sarong, brandishing a weapon, and assuming martial arts poses.

His opponent in the standoff responded with kung fu-style movements before a third party intervened and defused the situation.

Reports indicate that Shakirin fled the scene and later left behind his blue Perodua Bezza (registration RY5621) in Gurun, Kedah. His current location remains unknown.

Police are appealing to the public for assistance.

The case has sparked widespread attention not only due to the dramatic nature of the standoff but also because of the unusual display of martial arts in a real-world conflict. The video, which quickly went viral on social media platforms, raised questions about public safety, road rage incidents, and the role of bystanders in such volatile situations. It also brought to light how quickly altercations can escalate in public spaces, especially when weapons are involved.

Authorities emphasize the importance of coming forward with any information regarding Mohd Shakirin’s whereabouts, as he is wanted in connection with serious offenses. The public is reminded not to approach him but to report any sightings to the police. As the investigation continues, this incident serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of aggressive behavior and the potential legal ramifications that follow. Law enforcement remains committed to locating the suspect and ensuring justice is served.
