M’SIAN MOTORCYCLE BEATING RED LIGHT @ YISHUN BECAUSE M’SIA BOLEH

A video emerged online showing a motorcyclist beating a red light at a road junction and almost crashing into another car.

The incident happened on 8 February at about 9.41am, at the road junction of Yishun Avenue 7 and Yishun Avenue 8, and it was captured on the dashcam of another vehicle waiting at the traffic light.

The Malaysia-registered motorcycle was seen dashing across the red light just as another car was making a turn from the opposite side of the junction.

The motorcyclist almost crashed into the car and only managed to escape by the skin of his teeth, before riding away.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
