Malaysian Member of Parliament (MP) Steven Sim Chee Keong, shared a post on 13 April, about how he bought a motorcycle for a 22-year-old food delivery rider, Mohamad.
The rider, who is presumed to be riding for Foodpanda, was using a damaged bicycle that he borrowed from a friend to do his deliveries.
Sim then asked him why he doesn’t ride a motorcycle like everyone else, to which Mohamad replied that he doesn’t have one.

Sim noticed that the bicycle’s seat was broken, but Mohamad made do with it because he had to pay his rent and feed himself; he had a day job where we makes about RM500 per month.
Mohamad does his deliveries after work, until 11pm, where he earns about RM20-RM30.
Sim highlighted that Mohamad doesn’t complain about his situation but is thankful for the chances he gets instead.
Sim noticed Mohamad’s sunburnt hands while listening to his story and felt moved, he then asked Mohamad what help he needed but the rider was to embarrassed to answer.

Sim then brought him to a Honda motorcycle shop and bought a motorcycle for the 22-year-old for RM4,500, including road tax, insurance and a full fuel tank.

He also bought aloe vera and sunblock lotion for Mohamad’s burnt hands before breaking fast together, having a pizza.

Sim then shared an update of the rider on 14 April, showing Mohamad on his new motorcycle with his arms jubilantly aloft, he captioned the photo (translated):
“The road is still long and the journey is far, your ambition to become an angineer has yet to be achieved.”
“Keep up with your honest work, because someone who works hard will never suffer any losses in life”.
Wow… I don’t have the words to… This MP is simply…
WOW.
