Mother Recalls Final Message From Daughter, 10, Killed In Fatal Johor Crash
A grieving mother has shared the heartbreaking final moments she had with her 10-year-old daughter before the child was killed in a devastating multi-vehicle crash in Johor.
Nur Airish Syifa Sidek was among five people who lost their lives in a collision involving five vehicles along Jalan Renggam–Simpang Renggam in Kluang on June 1.
According to Malaysian media reports, the young girl had been preparing for a short trip with relatives when she bid farewell to her mother, Nurul Ain Mohd Rashid, 38.
Before leaving, Airish reportedly kissed her mother’s cheeks several times, shook her hand and said goodbye with a smile. It would be the last conversation the pair would ever have.
The tragedy has left the family struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of a child who had been looking forward to welcoming a new sibling into the family.
Last WhatsApp Conversation Ends In Silence
Nurul Ain later revealed that her daughter had sent her a simple WhatsApp message containing only the word “Umi”, a Malay term for mother.
She responded immediately, asking what her daughter needed, but no reply came.
Later, when she checked on her daughter again, Airish replied that she was at a relative’s shop in Melaka. The concerned mother then asked whether she had eaten, but the message went unanswered.
A short while later, she received the devastating news that a serious accident had occurred.
The mother and her husband, Sidek Abd Hamid, 42, rushed to Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang after learning about the crash.
When they finally arrived, their worst fears were confirmed.
The family was informed that all those involved in the collision had died.
Daughter Had Been Excited About New Baby
Adding to the heartbreak, Nurul Ain is currently five months pregnant and expecting her baby in November.
She said Airish had been thrilled when she learned she was going to become an elder sister.
The young girl had even asked her mother not to purchase any baby clothes because she wanted to personally choose outfits for the newborn.
Just days before the accident, Nurul Ain and her husband had visited a shopping centre but decided not to buy any baby items, remembering Airish’s request.
The mother also shared that her daughter had packed several pieces of her clothing for the trip because they wore the same size. Airish was reportedly wearing one of her mother’s shirts at the time of the accident, making the loss even more painful for the family.
Father Calls For Tough Action
Airish’s father has since called for firm action against those responsible after viewing footage of the crash circulating online.
He described the loss of his daughter and other relatives as unbearable and said accountability was necessary to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in future.
The crash also claimed the lives of other family members travelling together in a Toyota Vios.
According to preliminary investigations by Malaysian authorities, a BMW allegedly lost control before crossing into the opposite lane and colliding with several vehicles.
Earlier reports indicated that the BMW driver, aged 22, was allegedly racing with a Mercedes-Benz driven by his 19-year-old brother before the fatal crash occurred.
The BMW driver was among those killed.
The 19-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver, reportedly a student at a university in Singapore, has been remanded by Malaysian authorities to assist with investigations into the incident.
The tragic accident has sparked widespread public discussion on dangerous driving and road safety, with many expressing sympathy for the victims’ families and calling for stricter enforcement against reckless driving.
