My greatest wish is to be able to eat durians in the comfort of my own home but I know that’s impossible.
Family is anti-durian, got a bit of smell also cannot
My entire family hates durian and it’s so bad that my mom won’t allow me to enter the house if she can smell durian on me.
I have to brush my teeth somewhere else and change out of my clothes before I’m allowed to go home.
Apparently my clothes will have the ‘durian smell’, which is very difficult to wash off, after eating durian.
The first time I ate durian, my mom wore gloves and a mask to handle my clothes and she eventually threw them away cos she said the smell is so pungent she doesn’t want to contaminate our washing machine.
Thankfully my grandparents stay nearby and they’re not as extreme as my mom so I usually go over after eating.
According to my grandparents, my mom used to eat a lot of durian as she loves it but she stopped after she got food poisoning once.
It was so bad she was admitted to hospital. After my grandparents told me this, I can sort of understand my mom’s actions but sometimes she is so ridiculous that I suspect she’s just doing it on purpose to make my life difficult.
