Tan Hong Sheng, 24, is the last person (who is facing a non-capital charge) to be sentenced after pleading guilty to three charges of rioting, one charge of being in the company of a person possessing an offensive weapon, and one charge of being a member of an unlawful assembly to assault a person.
He was sentenced yesterday (5 March) to four years and nine month imprisonment, as well as 12 strokes of the cane.
His lawyers, Josephus Tan and Cory Wong from Invictus Law Corporation, argued that he showed restraint and had attempted to stop Tan Sen Yang.
Tan Sen Yang, on the other hand, is the only one facing a murder charge and his trial, having been moved to the high court, is still ongoing.
