Burning in common corridor
So, I have a neighbour from hell and it’s not uncommon in Singapore, I know. We were granted a Protection Order.
But lately, they’ve resorted to burning incense throughout the day, forcing us to keep our windows and door closed.
Past few nights the burning was even starting at 1am. And my air purifier is showing a reading of 300 which is in the hazardous range.
We wake up choking on smoke even with windows closed. That’s how much smoke there is! I’ve approached town council and they’ve spoken to the neighbour. But neighbour still didn’t stop.
So last night, based on town council’s advice, I finally called the police. When Police paid a visit, the neighbour claimed it’s mosquito coil, the police accepted that as valid.
So now they’re free to keep burning. Police did not think to question how can mosquito coil produce that much smoke.
I know it’s not mosquito coil because I’m from the same religion and familiar with that incense smell. How do I deal with this situation?

- Burn incense right back, turn the fan on and blow it in its general direction
- Perhaps record a video as proof and submit to the relevant authorities?
- HDB is a leasehold. Makes me wonder why HDB continues to allow neighbour’s from hell to continue their stay. Consficate and throw them off the street.
- Very sus to start praying at 1am especially when it’s not cny.
- Plan to move. Legit suggestion. This is why I sold my flat after MOP and we are moving somewhere without windows along common corridor.
- Buy a extra strong fan and blow in their direction. Put a few straw dolls with nails in front of their house.
- have a big fan to blow back at them lor 😁
