NETIZEN ACCUSES COFFEESHOP EMPLOYER OF EXPLOITING WORKERS, ASK THEM HIDE FROM MOM OFFICERS

A netizen by the name of Sharon Tai on Facebook recently took to the social media platform to accuse a coffeeshop employer of exploiting her child who came to Singapore to work for the first time.

Made to work 30 days a month, still get deducted $500 from salary

According to the netizen’s post which is written in Chinese, her child had arrived in Singapore to work for the first time under the address in the work permit as Jin Guang Coffee Shop with the address Block 151, Ang Mo Kio Ave 5, Singapore 560151.

The child was then posted to 200 Woodlands Industrial Park E7, Singapore 757177.

At Woodlands, the child worked a full 30 days a month for 12 hours a day with no OT pay even after working for more than 44 hours a week.

To add on to the woes, $500 was also deducted from the child’s salary for no particular reason.

According to the netizen, the child was also instructed by the employer to hide if Ministry of Manpower (MOM) officers came to conduct checks.

She also asked if her child had become an ‘illegal worker’ after the child was sent to work at Woodlands.

Apparently, her child was not the only one who was treated and threatened in a similar matter by the employer.

There were also many others who got exploited by the employer from different nationalities such as Malaysians, Vietnamese and even PRC.

Their salaries were also constantly delayed by 1-2 months.

The netizen also said that as her child had already become a victim of exploitation, she hopes that no one else will follow in her child’s footsteps and urges all to beware of this particular employer.
