NETIZEN HORRIFIED TO SEE AUNTIE BURNING JOSS PAPER AT CORRIDOR

A netizen shared a video of an auntie burning joss paper offerings along what appears to be a HDB corridor walkway.

The netizen captioned the video:

“Oi aunty! I don’t have a death wish you know… Well not yet until I was you this morning (doing) this…at the corridor with open fire…

You want to risk your life and home, your problem. This is extremely irresponsible because you’re not the only one living here.

That’s why for this type of public (shisha) activities, the atas people have allocated a place and bins to do so right!?

Fire safety guidelines

The burning of incense paper is not allowed in the common corridors of HDB buildings as it constitutes a fire hazard.

According to the SCDF’s fire safety guidelines, incense papers should only be burnt in incense burners or metal containers that are provided by the Town Council.

The burners which have been designated are commonly situated under HDB blocks and far from the residents’ homes.
