In a Reddit post, a netizen asked: “What are some privileges that females have but they are ignorant about?”
The thread started to become a heated discussion with over 100 comments, the following is a list of comments stated by netizens.
- Divorce & child support laws
- Woman colleagues can ask guy colleagues to help do manual / lifting work and no one bats an eyelid. Woman have better emotional support social circle.
- I think a few that is related ti reservist:
- Not being judged for going to ICT
- Not having to worry about ICT call ups (for eg training before ICT, 1 day meetings,etc) that may affect their plans
- More tax benefits (working mothers, spouses of NSMen), More emphasis on women’s health (vs men’s health), Priority in disasters (look at Titanic, Ukraine etc… Women and children are evacuated first. Is it because women are weaker and need to be protected?) Priority in custody for children in divorce cases (Is it because got to enforce female role as caregiver?) ,Pay gap in modeling, conventional kind or ahem otherwise. (Its demand and supply, so while privilege, I would argue that its justifiable. Just like sports paying men more.)
- men are also expected to pay for dates, earn more, propose, pay for most expenses after marriage
- Got woman charter, no man charter.
- Women get in for free during ladies night
- Companies pander to women during International Women’s Day by giving them discounts while nothing happens on international men’s day.
- Women can falsely accuse men of sexual assault and have her identity protected while the accused man has his name plastered all over the news (this happened last year, there was a doctor who was falsely accused. It’s in the straits times)
- Men give women free validation and they get real confident real fast.
- When trouble strikes, men are expected to die for women or “women and children get saved first”
- A woman can hit a man in public and he is expected to take it. When a man retaliates the public will jump on him
- Women get a head start in life (no national service to hold them back, ICT included)
