Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong, who co-chairs the Covid-19 Task Force confirmed on Friday (July 17) that leisure travel will not resume until the end of 2020.
However, essential travel (such as business and overseas meetings) will probably be allowed.
The government’s stance towards the global pandemic is essentially to avoid all travel.
Wong added that Covid-19 is very likely to remain till next year.
For travellers who passed the essential travel requirements, they will travel via “green lanes” with other countries.
It is very likely that business trips will also be regulated and monitored closely and only for those who need them most.
With global cases hitting 14 million and over 600,000 dead from the pandemic, it’s probably for the better.
