A 20-year-old full-time national serviceman (NSF) died after being found unconscious at the foot of a building at Basic Military Training School 3 on Pulau Tekong on Oct. 8, 2026.
In a statement published on social media, Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said the serviceman was found at about 1.22pm and immediately taken to Pulau Tekong Medical Centre for emergency treatment.
He was subsequently evacuated by helicopter to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), arriving at 2.05pm. He was pronounced dead at 2.27pm.
NSF Was Not Involved In Training At The Time
MINDEF clarified that the serviceman was not participating in training when the incident occurred.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing.
The ministry said the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and MINDEF extended their deepest condolences to the deceased’s family.
The SAF is also assisting the family during their period of grief.
Police Investigating Fall From Height
In response to media queries, the police said they received a call for assistance at about 2.40pm on Thursday, Oct. 8.
Officers were alerted to an incident involving a fall from height on Pulau Tekong.
A 20-year-old man was found lying motionless at the foot of the building before being conveyed to hospital in an unconscious state. He subsequently died.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading to the incident.
Investigations are continuing, and further information may be provided as more details become available.
