Dr Ng Eng Hen, Singapore’s Minister for Defence recently shared on his Facebook page about the special meals served to our recruits serving their Basic Military Training (BMT) at Pulau Tekong.

According to the Minister’s post on Facebook, the recruits were served baked duck with lemongrass and coriander or steamed fish as their main course, topped with pineapple tarts for their dessert.
Each boy was also given two mandarin oranges for their meal.

“Do BMT recruits at Basic Military Training Centre get a special Lunar New Year menu at the cookhouse? Yes! Baked duck with lemongrass and coriander or steamed fish (年年有余) and of course, pineapple tarts as dessert.”

- Actually SAF had gone far for many years. The daily food and accommodation are great. Unlike 40+ years ago when we get “rubber band” bee hoon, “Granade” eggs (surely can kill people) etc. Enjoy it and stop complaining about SAF and it’s food. Young man appreciate what you get and stop complaining. SAF is the best place to be.
