It was previously reported that a 25-year-old NS Man had died after collapsing during a Health Promotion Board (HPB), High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session.
He was taking part in the session as part of his NS FIT programme at West Coast Park, and collapsed at about 7.38pm, at the start of the main exercise following a warm-up session.
He was attended to by the trainers who commenced CPR and AED on him, before being sent to the hospital by the SCDF in an ambulance.
He was subsequently pronounced dead at about 9.21pm.
The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Health Promotion Board said in a joint news release earlier today, revealing the cause of his death following a post-mortem examination.

The cause of death of the Operationally Ready National Serviceman who collapsed while participating in the Health Promotion Board (HPB)’s Quick HIIT session as part of the NS FIT[1] programme in West Coast Park on 2 March 2022 was coronary artery disease, as determined by the post-mortem examination.
HPB’s review of safety practices for its fitness programme is ongoing. HPB’s Quick HIIT sessions remain suspended till further notice.
The Ministry of Defence, the Singapore Armed Forces and HPB continues to assist the family in their time of grief.
