NTU & NUS GRADS CAN WORK IN UK UNDER “HIGH POTENTIAL INDIVIDUAL” VISA

Graduates from NUS and NTU can soon look for a job in Britain under a new visa, called the High Potential Individual (HPI) visa.

The HPI is aimed at giving businesses in Britain access to graduates from top universities as part of their government’s post-Brexit strategy to make Britain more competitive.

Applications for the HPI visa will open from 30 May, according to The Straits Times.

The top 50 universities qualify for the HPI, and besides NUS and NTU, schools such as Harvard, Stanford and MIT are on the list.

Under the scheme, the applicants have 2 or 3 years to look for a job.

The HPI is offered to those who have finished their degree from the top universities within the last 5 years, regardless if it was a bachelor’s, master’s or a PhD.

They would also have to meet English language prerequisites and have at least £1,270 available in cash.

Applicants also need not have a job offer to qualify for the visa – those with a bachelor’s or master’s degree will be given 2 years to look for a job in the UK, while those with a PhD will be given 3 years.

There are also no restrictions on the industry that they can work in.
