Hi. I just wanted to ask for your opinions regarding the following:
1) do you think it is acceptable for employees to ballot leaves ONE year in advance? Many of us (the unfortunate lose in all ballots ones) are not able to claim our AL slots even when it’s done in this manner.
When slots open up along the way, our superiors will then ask us if we want those slots. (Eg: superiors ask if we would like to take leave on 10th October only on 1st October). How do we then plan for anything? Like holiday trips. Last minute booking = price hike/many accommodations unavailable/very rush/how to jio friends
2) our roster for next Monday is not even out yet and today is Thursday. Roster is usually planned for the whole month. Our social lives for the whole month depend very much on the roster that is always out very late. I can only make tentative plans/miss out on gatherings/attempt to change shifts to try to make it to gatherings or whatever. Is this really ok?
I understand that there’s manpower crunch and they have to plan in advance to ensure adequate manpower or that they have difficulties planning the rosters. But it is really IRRITATING!!!
Do you guys have any suggestions on how to improve this? Do other hospitals work differently?
