NURSING HOME RESIDENT MISTAKENLY SENT TO MORGUE ALIVE, PUT INSIDE BODY BAG

A resident of a nursing home in Shanghai was mistakenly put inside a body bag and taken to the morgue while still alive.

According to local reports in Shanghai, the municipal government has launched an investigation into the incident.

The nursing home has also apologised, as the mistake by the nursing home has sparked anger among the Chinese.

According to China Central Television; four people, including the director of the nursing home, and three officials from the district civil affairs bureau and social development office, have been fired from their positions.

The license of a doctor have been revoked, and the director of the district civil affairs bureau is also being further investigated.

A video of the nursing home resident being taken away in a body bag to the morgue was posted onto Twitter by a netizen, @manyapan.

She captioned her video:

“This is the video everyone’s talking about today, showing how a Shanghai nursing home resident is taken away to the morgue in a body bag. At around 38 sec in the video, the staff member backs away and says: “He’s alive. He’s alive, I saw it. Don’t cover him anymore.”

This latest scandal comes in the wake of Shanghai’s 5th week of lockdown, as the city battles thousands of new cases each day.

Residents in the city of 25 million people are also reportedly unable to assess medical care, with most of the 400 deaths in the latest wave of infections being the elderly with underlying health problems.
