Are companies starting to bounce back this year?

I am a 2020 NUS grad, and currently working in a tech industry (not as SWE). I started my job with a salary at higher end of $3k and was raised to about $4k in a recent salary adjustment.

I feel like my salary is ok, but because I don’t really like my current job, I started casually looking for a diff job.

After going through interviews, one company seemed interested in me and proceed to ask my salary expectation. I gave a salary range starting from $5k (just trying my luck asking for 20% more salary from my current job). To my surprise they offered me a position with $6k salary.

Although I’m very grateful, tbh I am still in disbelief why would this company offer me such a high salary considering I have less that one year of experience plus we are still in the midst of pandemic. I am still considering whether to accept and hope that this is not a red flag.

And to all my batch mates and juniors who are still looking for jobs, wish you all the very best of luck in finding one! I personally think that it’s okay to accept job with a low starting pay, as long as it provides learning opportunities. Higher pay may come out later after you possess the experience.
