A student is seeking for advice from netizens after feeling trapped by an internship program that he/she signed up for out of desperation.
According to the student, the company is run by an NUS Alumni. However, he/she felt that the whole operation is very shady. As the recruitment process is extremely rushy which was done within 2 to 3 days before starting work and some of the details in the agreement were not discussed.
The student suspects that he/she is not the only one who might be trapped in the same situation.

Hi all, I received an intern role during the semester that because of certain reasons, I decided to take it. However, the whole operation is very shady, despite it being run by an NUS Alumni. I need to sign the contract very very soon.
1. Its unpaid (ok fine, can accept if I’m despo)
2. Initially discussed 3 day work week, now in the agreement its 3 day work week during the sem, and 5 days after the sem, which I never discussed.
3. The process is EXTREMELY RUSHED, done in like 2-3 days then start work.3. Obviously I plan to quit IMMEDIATELY after the sem, but I am afraid I cannot do so.
4. The NDA says apparently I cannot share the terms, so I will share it in the MOST VAGUE TERMS I CAN SAY (I hope I don’t get sued and I have enough plausible deniability here…)
5. The part that worries me most is: If decided not to be involved… smth smth IN SPITE OF TERMINATING (they used a common legalise term that I googled and it means “in spite of?’, so I’m paraphrasing), both sides must still fulfil their duties for xxx YEARS from the time of signing.
6. Other details on their social media makes me suspect that there may have been other ppl trapped by part 5?

Kindly advice, please! My main goal is just to take it for the sem and quit, which I think is fair for both parties. But now my main concern is if I can even quit… Thanks!
