OFFICE WORKER OVERWHELMED AT WORK, TOOK LEAVE JUST TO CLEAR WORK

An officer worker shared how nobody wanted to join her industry in healthcare and she is left overworked and even had to take leave just to finish up her work.

Here is the story:

“For any fresh grads that just entered the healthcare industry, be it frontline, backend or admin, are y’all regretting it?

I work in a very established hospital (guess which one) as an executive under a programme and it’s driving me crazy.

In the beginning everything was fine. Nice bosses, adaptable working environment and scope. Yet as the time went by, more and more things started to happen. More portfolios, responsibilities started to get thrown at us.

The bosses recognised this change and wanted to hire more people, but there’s just no one out there wanting to get into the department.

Now we often find ourselves drowning in work, working OT until 10 pm, even on weekends I would just turn on my laptop and just work because I’m scared that next week will have new things that will wreak havoc with my work schedule.

I know I shouldn’t be complaining because I’m not a frontline staff that deals with crude members of public, but to be honest, I’m tired.

I don’t know how long I can take this OTs and weekend slogs. It came to the point where I took leave to clear work.

This shouldn’t be happening, but it happened. Help.”

Editor’s note: If it is becoming too much, no shame in resigning and switching careers.
