A cafe situated at Orchard Central has come under scrutiny by netizens for their no-holds barred responses to negative reviews left by unhappy patrons on Google Reviews.
The netizen who shared about the cafe, said:
“Making plans for brunch when I came across this establishment.
4.7 Star rating on Google maps, one of the highest in the entire Orchard Road stretch. Sounds good. Right? Wrong. Apparently the business owner is incentivizing 5 star reviews by offering free gifts on the next visit for showing proof of having written a 5-star review.
You might be thinking that’s quite ‘normal’ and I say to that, fair point. However, the abhorrent nature of the business owner appears when looking at the bad reviews (1-star and 2-stars).
Whenever a negative review is received, the reviewer is pelted with insults, name-calling, name-and-shame tactics and even doxxing in the case of one customer where the business owner thinks that it is in good nature to write a scathing complaint to her employer. Another customer has their marriage called out just because of a 1-star review. Wow!
You never know when you’ll be at their mercy as a customer, look at them the wrong way and the CEO or HR of the company you work at could be receiving a nasty slandering email, or maybe they’re even keeping footage and payment/reservation/contact information not-in-line with PDPA practices just ready to blackmail and extort their customers.
Obviously not going to dine at a place where ethics do not exist and underhanded and disgusting tactics are employed by the business owners to inflate their review score.
