Outrage as Tourist Caught Urinating on Lorry in Geylang, Post For Camera & Proud

A Reddit post has sparked widespread disgust after a tourist was reportedly caught urinating on someone’s vehicle in broad daylight — while his friends snapped photos and laughed.

According to a Redditor who shared the incident on r/singaporehappenings, the disgraceful act took place near Geylang Lorong 9 around 6pm. The poster said they were buying dinner at a nearby beef hor fun stall when they stumbled upon a group of tourists, allegedly from the UK based on their accents.

“One of them was peeing onto the lorry’s tyre while laughing and posing for pictures taken by his friends,” the post described. “It was in full view — I could clearly see the stream of urine.”

Public Outcry and Calls for Action

The incident quickly went viral on Reddit, with users slamming the behaviour as “vile,” “disrespectful,” and “a stain on Singapore’s public order.” Some commenters questioned whether the authorities would act differently if the perpetrator had been a local instead of a foreigner. Others pointed out the hypocrisy in strict enforcement against minor infractions like tray returns, while blatant acts of public indecency may slip under the radar.

“This guy should be charged under the Environmental Public Health Act or even the Vandalism Act,” one user commented. “Public urination is illegal, and posing for photos like it’s a joke just adds insult to injury.”

Another user suggested alerting the police with a clear time and location for potential follow-up. Some also called on the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to take a firmer stance on such tourist behaviour.

Double Standards and Enforcement Gaps

The post has since led to a wider discussion about enforcement inconsistencies in Singapore. Redditors shared similar experiences, including seeing foreign tourists vape openly while migrant workers were reprimanded for smoking near — but not inside — designated smoking zones.

While the culprit’s identity remains unknown, the public sentiment is clear: Singaporeans are tired of foreigners flouting the law and disrespecting public spaces, seemingly without consequence. This incident has reignited debate about whether tourists and expats receive leniency not afforded to locals, especially in cases that involve public hygiene and decency.

No official statement has been released by the authorities as of yet.
