Outrage: M’sian Influencers Enter Women’s Restroom, Sparking Police Investigations

A recent incident involving Malaysian influencers Bryan Wee and Xiao Honey has ignited a firestorm of controversy after they were filmed entering a women’s restroom while dressed in female attire. The video, which quickly went viral, has led to multiple police reports being lodged against the duo, with accusations of inappropriate behavior and potential violations of various laws.

The police report was filed by H.M. Goh, chairman of Pertubuhan Ikatan Cina Melaka, at the Sungai Long police station in Kajang, Selangor. Goh expressed his concerns over the influencers’ actions, suggesting that they could create discomfort among conservative Muslim women and potentially incite racial tensions. He posed a provocative question on social media, asking how a Muslim woman adjusting her hijab inside the restroom would react to their presence.

In the wake of the backlash, Bryan Wee issued a statement attempting to clarify the situation. He explained that the video was filmed early in the morning at an airport when the restroom was empty, and he only entered after a fan suggested it. “I was bored, and I made sure the toilet was completely empty. After filming, I immediately left. I didn’t even use the toilet,” he stated, expressing surprise at the strong public reaction to what he considered a harmless video.

However, Goh and other critics have condemned the influencers for setting a poor example and prioritizing viral fame over social responsibility. They argue that such actions could lead to dangerous precedents and misrepresent Malaysian culture, especially following a recent trip to China where the influencers allegedly wore inappropriate outfits.

As the situation unfolds, police reports have been filed in multiple states, including Penang, Selangor, and Melaka, with several coming from Muslim NGOs. The public is urged to take a firm stance against such behavior, as investigations into the incident continue. At the time of this report, Xiao Honey has yet to respond publicly to the controversy.
