Major Anti-Gambling Operations Net Over S$12,000 in Cash and Multiple Arrests
In a concerted effort to combat illegal gambling activities, the Woodlands Police Division conducted two separate operations in Yishun and Jurong, resulting in the seizure of over S$12,000 in cash and the investigation of multiple individuals for gambling offences.
On June 22, officers from the Woodlands Police Division launched an anti-gambling operation in the vicinity of Yishun Street 72, targeting illegal gambling dens and activities. The operation resulted in the arrest of five men and three women, aged between 56 and 82, who are currently being investigated for gambling offences. A significant amount of cash, exceeding S$9,140, was seized, along with various gambling-related paraphernalia.
Just a week later, on June 29, a similar operation was carried out in Taman Jurong and Jurong West, this time targeting illegal horse betting activities. The police seized more than S$2,900 in cash and are investigating seven men, aged between 61 and 74, over gambling offences.
These operations demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to eradicating illegal gambling activities, which can have detrimental effects on individuals and communities. The police are working tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle illegal gambling networks, and to bring those involved to justice.
The public is urged to report any suspicious gambling activities or illegal betting operations to the authorities, as tip-offs from the community are crucial in helping to combat this illegal activity. By working together, we can create a safer and more responsible society.
