My job is causing me to have panic attacks now

Basically title. I’ve had three panic attacks in the pass month. Before that, the last time I’ve had one was when my mom died.
I’ve been sending out applications but it’s similar to screaming into the void. Other jobs would be too much of a pay cut.
We’re over worked, under staffed, and underpaid. Last week 3-4 people were out a day in our tiny department, but they wanted us to continue to help this second department get ahead on their workload while we’re struggling to stay afloat.
Just needed to rant. Thanks for coming to me Ted talk.

- Get out, it’s not worth your health.
- Keep on applying! It takes a damn long time to get another job but it’s the persistence that pays off. And at your current job, keep in mind that it’s not your business. Do what you can at a pace you want to work at. If management says anything, tell them you are working at a reasonable pace and it’s the workload that’s way too high. Work isn’t something worth stressing about. I know it’s difficult because it’s a way to make money to live. But you need to find a balance between killing yourself for a job that doesn’t value you and setting boundaries respectfully.
- I have 1400 applications out since June, almost 50 interviews. It’s a war. I’m going to look for work outside of the scope of my education. Keep looking. My biggest lesson learned is we are always nothing more than a number and never stop looking, even when you have a job. Keep the momentum going because the company you work for today is just a number in your life.
- one time a coworker made a joke about how all the people on our team have stomach issues. i laughed, then realized, oh shit, we all do! between gastritis, ulcers and “as yet, undiagnosed” we all got at least one of them.
