Leow Keng Chun, a 39 year old Singaporean man, was found guilty of operating a karaoke lounge and receiving customers during the Phase 1 post circuit breaker period.
Leow, who owned the KTV outlet, DRINKITUP, which is located in Jalan Besar, faced two charges of opening non-residential premises to other individuals, and for providing public entertainment and selling liquor without required licenses, and a third charge of failing to close the non-residential premises as required under Covid-19 regulations in effect during Phase 1.
It was believed that during an enforcement check, police even broke a small glass panel to unlock the door from inside.
Two Vietnamese hostesses were also found in the unit as they provided companionship for $100 each to customers at the outlet.
The prosecution proposed a total fine of S$13,000 for the three charges he is facing.
