People’s Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament (MP) Tin Pei Ling, who is also the MP for the MacPherson Single Member Constituency (SMC), was appointed as Grab Singapore’s Director for Public Affairs and Policy.
Her new job scope will include building “partnerships and programmes to harness the positive potential of technology to create impact in Singapore,” according to a statement by Grab Singapore.
She had reportedly joined the ride-hailing and tech giant in January, and before her latest appointment, was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Business China.
The Straits Times reported that Tin was at a Chinese New Year event on 1 February that was hosted by Grab Singapore, where the company’s managing director Yew Wee Tang and the Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor were in attendance.
Grab described Tin in their statement, saying “Pei Ling has deep on-ground understanding of digital economy and Smart Nation policy, and close ties with the local community.”
According to Channel NewsAsia, Tin started her role this month (January).
She was the CEO of Business China from May 2018 to December 2022, before she started her new role(s) at Grab Singapore.
However, Tin remains as a board member of Business China, despite stepping down from the company as CEO.
