PARENT TELLS ELDER SON TO BABYSIT YOUNGER BROTHER BUT NO FOOD AT HOME

Hi all! I (22) looked after my little brother (14M) for three and a bit days over the weekend, Thursday-Sunday.

My parents (F51 and (M52) came back around tea time on Sunday hence the bit XD.

My parents were away working at a craft show and it was easier and cheaper for them to stay over nearby rather than drive backwards and forwards. I also watched my mum’s shop for three days (Thursday-Saturday) when she was away.

The problem was there wasn’t a lot of food in the house (mainly just pasta, cheese, rice etc but it gets repetitive eating the same thing night after night) that I could prepare easily after work (I got the bus at 8:15AM and returned to the house sometime between 4-6PM at night).

Meaning before I got on the bus I had to run to pick something quick and easy up for tea. Paying with it out of my own savings (I also have a full-time job I took time off to help out). My parents didn’t leave any kind of money to help out when she was away, and when the shopping came on Friday there was barely anything in it (just milk, two packet of maggie mee, a frozen pizza, cereal, bread breads and biscuits) as they forgot to add to the shopping on Thursday.

They do a lot for me, picking me up from work (I usually finish at 10 and the buses stop at 8 but I am changing my availability to reflect the bus times). I also pay rent to them ($200 a month and I’ve offered to pay more if needed).

I’m probably out around $40 for dinner for four nights (I made tea on Sunday with ingredients I mainly bought)…

Should I ask for it?
