A couple in India are suing their son and demanding that he and his wife give them a grandchild within a year, or pay them 50 million rupees (about S$900K).
The Indian parents, Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad, said that they have spent all their savings raising their son and giving him an education for him to become a pilot, as well as paying for his wedding.
According to The Times of India, the couple said in their court filing that their son has been married for 6 years but are still not planning a baby.
They added that they want to have a grandchild to spend time with so that their “pain will become bearable”.
Of their 50 million rupees compensations costs, it includes payment for a wedding reception at a five-star hotel, a luxury car worth about US$80,000, as well as paying for the son’s honeymoon with his bride overseas.
They also included the US$65,000 they paid for their son to get trained as a pilot in the US, where he later returned to India without a job.
The couple also added that they had to take a loan in order to build their house and are going through financial difficulties at the moment, and that they are “disturbed” because they are living alone.
